A ranking is a specific finding from a specific edition. When sharing it, include the year and the report name. “One of the happiest countries” is more accurate than turning an old headline into a claim that Costa Rica leads every happiness measure.
Where the National Geographic story fits
National Geographic’s 2017 feature explored happiness through Costa Rica, Denmark and Singapore. That feature is part of the background to Costa Rica’s reputation for well-being; it is not the 2026 World Happiness Report.
